About these prompts
AI website builders such as Hostinger Horizons, Lovable and others turn a written description into a working website. They respond much better to a clear, structured brief than to a single sentence. They also work best in small steps: build the structure, then refine one section at a time, rather than asking for everything to change at once.
One thing to know before you start: some AI builders produce sites that rely heavily on JavaScript to show their content. Check that your finished pages show real text when you view the page source, that each page has its own title, and that missing pages return a proper "not found" response. These details affect how well search engines can read your site.
Copy any prompt below, or build a custom one with the Prompt Builder. Highlighted [PLACEHOLDERS] are the parts to replace with your own details.
The prompts
01The first brief
The very first prompt you give an AI builder.
#
Build a website for [BUSINESS NAME], a [TYPE OF BUSINESS] serving [IDEAL CUSTOMER] in [LOCATION OR "online"].Goal of the site: [MAIN GOAL, e.g. get quote requests]Pages: Home, [PAGE 2], [PAGE 3], [PAGE 4], ContactMain call to action on every page: [ACTION]Style: [MOOD, e.g. clean and warm]. Colors: [COLORS OR HEX CODES]. Fonts: [FONTS OR "a modern sans-serif with a friendly serif for headings"]. Imagery: [STYLE OF PHOTOS].Content: use the real details below and do not invent testimonials, statistics or awards. Where content is missing, add a clearly marked placeholder.[PASTE YOUR KEY DETAILS: services, hours, phone, email, address, about text]Must have: mobile-friendly layout, contact form, click-to-call phone number, [OTHER FEATURES].Avoid: [THINGS YOU DO NOT WANT].
TipWrite the brief in a document first. You will reuse and improve it if you rebuild or try another tool.
02Refine one page at a time
After the first version exists.
#
Let's improve only the [PAGE NAME] page. Do not change any other page.Changes:1. [CHANGE 1]2. [CHANGE 2]3. [CHANGE 3]Keep the existing colors, fonts and navigation. Show me the result before moving on.
TipSmall, specific requests are easier for builders to get right, and easier for you to undo if something breaks.
03Fix something that is not right
When the builder keeps getting something wrong.
#
On the [PAGE NAME] page, the [SECTION] is not right. What it does now: [DESCRIBE]What I want instead: [DESCRIBE PRECISELY, including size, position, spacing, color]On mobile it should: [DESCRIBE]Change only this section.
04Search basics checklist
Before you publish an AI-built site.
#
Check my site against these search basics and fix anything missing:1. Every page has a unique, descriptive title and meta description2. Each page has one main heading (H1) that matches its topic3. Images have descriptive alt text4. There is a sitemap5. Pages that do not exist show a proper "page not found" page6. Text content is visible in the page itself, not only loaded after the page opens7. The site works and reads well on mobileTell me which items you can fix and which I need to handle elsewhere.
TipNot every builder can control every item on this list. Knowing which ones it cannot handle is useful in itself.
05Replace placeholder content
When the builder filled pages with generic text.
#
Replace all placeholder and generic text on the site with the real content below. Do not keep any invented testimonials, statistics, team members or awards.[PASTE REAL CONTENT FOR EACH PAGE]If any section has no real content to replace it, remove the section rather than leaving filler.
06Change the look without starting over
When the design feels generic.
#
The site looks too much like a template. Change the visual style across the whole site while keeping all content and pages:New mood: [MOOD]Colors: [HEX CODES AND WHERE TO USE EACH]Heading font: [FONT]; body font: [FONT]Buttons: [STYLE, e.g. rounded, solid, dark]Spacing: [e.g. more white space between sections]Apply consistently to every page.
Worked example
What a response looks like
The prompt we ranPrompt 3 with: on the Home page, the testimonials section; now it shows three cards in a row that are tiny on mobile; want one large quote at a time with arrows, centered, readable at 18px on mobile.
The responseSample builder instruction, tidied by the assistant before pasting:
"On the Home page, change only the testimonials section. Replace the three small cards with a single large quote shown one at a time, centered, with previous and next arrows below it. Use at least 18px text on mobile and 22px on desktop. Keep the current colors and fonts. Do not change any other section."
Sample response, produced by running this prompt in Claude (Anthropic) with the fictional business above. AI responses vary every time you run a prompt; use this to see the kind of result to expect, not as copy to reuse.
Mistakes to avoid
- Asking for many changes at once and losing track of what broke.
- Publishing with invented testimonials or team members left in.
- Not checking that each page has its own title and readable text.
- Rebuilding from scratch instead of refining.
Frequently asked questions
Are AI-built websites good for SEO?
They can be, but check the basics: each page should have its own title and description, readable text in the page itself, and a proper not-found page. Some builders handle these well; with others you may need to adjust settings or choose a different setup.
Should I write the content before using a builder?
Yes, if you can. Builders are better at layout than at knowing your business. Giving them your real content up front produces a much better first version.
